Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Gives Positive Indication on $9.0 Billion Shares Buyback Plan

Comcast RISE to Award $1 Million in Grants to Small Businesses

Cook County is one of five places chosen for this latest round of awards. Miami, Oakland, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. are among the other destinations. In this round, Comcast will offer a total of $1 million in grants in Cook County alone, totaling $5 million across the five sites. This takes the total amount of Comcast RISE Investment Fund awards issued to date to $21 million. Comcast has extended the fund to Cook County firms for the second time.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle stated that the epidemic has been especially harsh on companies operated by women and people of color in Cook County and abroad. He strongly encourages qualified firms to apply for a grant. This money can help them enhance their position, especially when the pandemic ends.

Emilia DiMenco said, Women’s Business Development Center President and Chief Executive Officer, “Women-owned businesses face a variety of challenges, including accessing funding. These dollars will allow them to invest in their businesses and strengthen their financial position moving forward.”

Comcast is awarding $50,000 in grants to four Cook County community-based organizations, including the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, South East Chicago Commission, South Shore Chamber of Commerce, and Women’s Business Development Center, to help raise awareness of the program and provide additional support, training, and mentorship.
