The leading chipmaker, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) increases 1.78% in pre trading session on Tuesday as it recently introduced the Ryzen 7020 and Athlon 7020 CPU families. The new CPUs, which are based on the Zen 2 core architecture and include AMD RDNA 2 graphics, are intended to provide high-end performance while also extending battery life for laptop users.
AMD has developed new CPUs to meet the current demands of laptop users. According to a recent AMD poll, 90% of laptop users use a laptop on the move and use it on battery power for over three hours. Furthermore, one-third of them operate it on battery power for 10 hours. The new Ryzen CPUs outperform the AMD Ryzen 3 7320U CPU in multitasking by 58% and application launch performance by 31%.
AMD has also worked with Microsoft MSFT to build the new chips’ security mechanism. Microsoft collaborated with AMD to allow the processors with Windows 11 software and the Microsoft Pluton security processor for complete Windows 11 functionality.
AMD’s strategic choice to create Ryzen CPUs for laptops with longer battery life is already having a favorable impact on topline growth. AMD announced client sector revenue of $2.2 billion in the second quarter, up 25% year on year, owing to a more diverse mix of Ryzen mobile chip sales.
