The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) Gears Up with 2 Executives for Top Leadership Roles

The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) inches down in early session on Thursday as Ihssane Mounir, who formerly led the company’s commercial sales and marketing department, is now in charge of the worldwide supply chain for the jet manufacturer, which is rearranging the executive team.

According to Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stan Deal in an internal email to Boeing staff obtained by the Business Journal, this move and others the company announced Tuesday are intended to further enable increasing stability and predictability in our supply chain and factories, along with the continued development of our senior leaders.

The corporation also appointed Kim Smith to the position of vice president of Boeing Global Services Total Quality, where she will be in charge of the introduction of new training resources and procedures for the business unit. She formerly oversaw the company’s Everett manufacturing lines, managing the 767 jet’s production and the beginning of December’s final 747.

When Mounir assumed his position as director of sales and marketing in 2016, he oversaw the division during the 737 Max issue, which developed as a result of two fatal incidents in 2018 and 2019. During the worst of the epidemic, which crippled air travel for months and forced airlines to reduce their fleet investments, he also oversaw commercial sales and marketing. In those six years, the business received a little over 4,000 orders net of cancellations, including 771 this year thanks to a sizable purchase from United Airlines (NYSE: UAL), which included more than 100 widebody planes.

As manufacturers work to restore global supply chains following pandemic shutdowns and geopolitical conflicts that have affected ports and shipping routes, significant engineering centers, and raw material suppliers, Mounir will confront obstacles in his new position.

In his place, the business elevated Brad McMullen, who had been in charge of commercial sales in North America during the Covid-19 crisis’ recuperation. Due to the restoration of domestic flights and airlines’ preference for the acquisition of modern, fuel-efficient narrow-body aircraft, the North American market for the jet manufacturer has had the strongest recovery.

Kim Pastega, who most recently held the positions of vice president and general manager of fabrication, succeeds Smith as general manager of 767 production. Deal said in the email that the new posts will start in the coming weeks.

The actions increase the two senior executives’ visibility across the whole organization, possibly positioning them for future promotions to top leadership roles. Elizabeth Lund, who is currently senior vice president and general manager of Airplane Programs at BCA, formerly held the position of global supply chain manager.
